The M05 family of camos was designed for the Finnish Defence Forces by the Finnish Forest Research Institute as well as the Technical Research Centre of Finland in 2007. They took many photographs of Finnish woodlands, terrains and other common wilderness features and extracted the ideal colour scheme and pattern using advanced computing and some boffins. Very smart, very technical, very sciency! 

Many would call it a "digital" pattern, which would make sense as it was designed with computers  but then again it’s deviates from the standard square-pixel-based design of other digital patterns such as CADPAT, UCP, MARPAT etc.

The “woodland” variant we have made avliable in G3 cut consists of dark greens, light greens and browns, with additional charcoal black shapes added to simulate shadows. it is widely regarded as highly effective in its intended environment.
